The 2nd Annual Dive Fest took place in Panama City, Fla. and raised money for SUDS -- Soldiers Undertaking Disabled Scuba. Founded by John Thompson after volunteering with the American Red Cross at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), where he realized how many military personnel were returning, wounded, from Iraq and Afghanistan, SUDS enables the use of SCUBA as a rehabilitation tool.
By buying tickets to the fundraiser (during which there was a silent auction and raffle), diving with Panama City Dive Charters and Better Bottom Time (both which donated a portion of their proceeds to SUDS), and more, were were able to raise $$ for SUDS. (Total raised is still being calculated.)
The weather cooperated, the people were great, and the diving was good. But most importantly, we helped a good cause.
