When I was a kid, I could never get into Hemingway's "The Old Man in the Sea". I was told it was a beatifully written master piece, but I didn't get it. What's up with this old man hanging out in misery in the middle of the ocean to catch a fish of all things?
Now I get it.
Life has taught me plenty (and I still have much more to learn). And, staying at a fishing lodge further educated me on the significance of his feat.
When I get home I'm going to dust of my copy of this short novel. I'm looking forward to reading it again through a different lense.
