El Pescador--Belize's Best Kept Secret

I'm thrilled that I really researched all of the hotels and resorts on Ambergris Caye, because I feel no buyer's remorse. I love where we are staying -- El Pescador.

This small, family-owned and operated fly fishing resort is perfect. The staff are warm and welcoming. Upon our arrival, we were welcomed 'home' not only by the owners' son, but on the welcome board our front.

Since we booked our reservation just a few days before arriving, we received an 'upgrade' to a villa -- which is AMAZING. I would seriously consider living here! We have access to the master bedroom (there are two additional bedrooms downstairs), two full baths, a huge kitchen/living room/dining area, and a fantastic porch with a ocean view -- and a hammock to boot.

We share a salt water pool with three other villas (only one is occupied). There are a few other pools here too, so it never gets crowded.

Every morning staff rake the lawn (i.e., the sand) to remove braches, etc., which may have fallend during the evening storm.

The water is a perfectly clear blue. The palm trees are perfectly placed.

The food is great -- everything is made from scratch daily. Last night we had oatmeal/wheat rolls, a pea soup made with a local pea, lobster, keylime pie and more.

The local beer - Belikin - is nice. I'm especially fond of the fact that the beer is only served in glass bottles which are recycled.

If the rest of the trip continues tihe way this one has gone thus far, I'm definitely coming back. Who's coming with me :)
